VILLA OLIO – LASTRA A SIGNA
7 Bedrooms
Location and Surrounding Area
Surrounded by olive groves, Villa Olio offers tranquilly and privacy while being accessible from major cities. Located just 35 minutes from the villa, Florence is the enchanting heart of Tuscany. Famous for its history, stunning architecture, and world-renowned art, Florence is the cradle of the Renaissance. Whether strolling through its picturesque streets, enjoying the culinary delights, or exploring its vibrant piazzas, Florence provides an unforgettable glimpse into Italy’s artistic and cultural heritage.
Start your day in Florence with a visit to the iconic Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the heart of Florence, commonly known as the Duomo. Just look for the high terracotta dome that dominates the city’s roof. The area around the Duomo is pedestrianised and usually crammed with tourists. The easiest way to get around this area, with its flat streets and wide pavements, is on foot. There are a few cafés and ice-cream parlours in and around the square, handy for a rest from sightseeing.
Home to an unparalleled collection of Renaissance art, including masterpieces by Botticelli, Michelangelo, and Leonardo da Vinci, the Uffizi Gallery is just off Piazza della Signoria, where a replica of Michelangelo’s David stands tall over spectacular fountains beside the stately Palazzo Vecchio. It is a short walk from the mediaeval Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in Florence. This historic bridge, lined with jewellery shops, spans the Arno River, and offers picturesque views, especially at sunset.
The sprawling 16th-century Boboli Gardens, a fine example of Italian Renaissance gardens adjoining the vast hulk of Pitti Palace in the Oltrarno district, are the green lungs of the city. Laid out in formal glory, they provide a peaceful retreat with beautiful sculptures, fountains, and stunning views over Florence. After the gardens, the narrow lanes of Oltrarno offer plenty of great local restaurants and old-fashioned workshops. The area gives an insight into the way the Florentines live, away from the tourist honeypot across the river.
Villa Olio is 15 km from Florence Amerigo Vespucci International Airport, 73 km from Pisa Galileo Galilei International Airport, and 314 km from Rome Leonardo da Vinci International Airport. The villa is 17 km from the center of Florence and just a 35-minute drive from Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore. Impruneta is 24 km from the property, San Gimignano is 61 km, Volterra is 75 km, Pisa is 76 km, Lucca is 80 km, Siena is 81 km, Livorno is 83 km, Montalcino is 119 km, and Montepulciano is 122 km.
