The town of Panzano is only a short walk from the property, around 700 m. It is an extremely pretty, medieval town with all of the necessary services you might need and it is famous for its organic wines and the celebrity, maestro butcher Dario Checchini with his butcher’s shop and kitchen. There are plenty of fine restaurants in the town, a top-notch Italian ice-cream gelateria plus a weekly market every Sunday should you feel like trying your hand at some authentic Tuscan cooking.

The villa is less than one hour from Florence, a treasure trove of art with an astonishing contemporary vibe. Beyond the extraordinary artistic heritage, a testimony to its centuries of civilization, the best way to enjoy Florence is to stroll along the riverside avenues at sunset, or to get lost among the city’s myriad alleyways of the bohemian Oltrarno or the narrow little streets of San Niccolò, where it feels like you have ended up in another time along its centuries-old walls.

The villa is a few kilometers from San Gimignano, one of the best preserved medieval towns in Italy. From afar, San Gimignano looks like a town from a Renaissance painting: a circle of 13th-century walls enclosing tall, teetering stone towers. Its towers make it instantly recognizable, but the art treasures held within its walls are just as remarkable. Although the town is small, there is enough art, architecture and fine food to keep you busy for more than one day.

The villa is also a few kilometers from Siena. Its ancient red brick buildings, the scallop-shaped main square Piazza del Campo and the Cathedral Square, dominated by the zebra-striped Duomo, make it an absolute must for anyone traveling to Tuscany. Effectively an open-air museum celebrating the Gothic, Siena boasts secular monuments that have retained both their medieval forms and their exceptional art collections, providing plenty to marvel at.

In less than two hours by car you can also reach Pisa, well-known for its Leaning Tower. Moving between its alleys and riversides you will discover architectural jewels such as Santa Maria della Spina, the headquarters of the Scuola Normale Superiore in Piazza dei Cavalieri, the exhibitions of Palazzo Blu and the magnetic charm of Piazza dei Miracoli. Start from the Baptistery and head to the 130-meter Camposanto Monumentale overlooking the square.

The Property
Set in a serene countryside of gently rolling hills, Villa Panzano provides the perfect retreat for those seeking complete privacy and relaxation in the heart of Tuscany. Offering a calm atmosphere and charming views over the surrounding countryside, this magnificent 14th-century Tuscan villa has been recently renovated to the highest standards. Villa Panzano can accommodate up to twelve guests featuring six double bedrooms with en-suite bathroom spread over two floors.

Immersed in a lush garden with charming views of the surrounding area, the villa boasts a magnesium salt-water infinity pool and a generous lawn furnished with comfortable sun loungers and deckchairs inviting guests to sit back and unwind. Offering a tranquil atmosphere, the poolside area represents an idyllic spot for basking in the sun and enjoying wonderful moments of relaxation. Outside you will also find an exclusive hot tub, a generous courtyard with al fresco dining area and a lounge area for relaxing and socializing.

The scented gardens, vineyards and olive groves have far-reaching views across the hills and it is likely that you will be spending a sunny afternoon in the infinity swimming pool or switching between the hot tub and the sauna. There is also a table tennis table and a bocce set. The villa produces its own olive oil, which is available to try or buy, plus you will be able to reap the full benefit of the vegetable garden, fresh eggs and orchard produce.

The villa boasts living areas with fireplace and comfortable sofas. As the evening falls, gather around the fireplace and enjoy a glass of wine with your fellow guests. The country-style kitchen is fully-equipped and has large French windows overlooking the courtyard. There is a media room with theater seating for that ultimate cinema experience. Otherwise you could kick back in the reading room or head down to the gym. An office with a laptop and two desks is at the guests’ disposal.

Three of the bedrooms have king-size beds and the other three are American queen-size beds. One of the king-size beds can be separated into two large singles if required. Flooded with light, each bedroom boasts en-suite bathroom with walk-in shower. Three of the en-suite bathrooms also feature a free-standing bathtub and all of the bedrooms have a cozy sitting area for those in search of private peace and relaxation. One of the bedrooms is in the tower, one on the ground floor and the others are on the first floor.
